American Eagle

Founded in Pittsburgh in 1977, American Eagle Outfitters is known for producing a variety of apparel and accessories. Starting in 2006, the brand also launched Aerie, a sub-brand that sells bras, underwear and loungewear. Currently branded as American Eagle and AE, the company mainly produces clothing targeted at teens, though it is also popular among younger adults. The retailer sells a wide variety of pants, tops, swimwear, outerwear, shoes and jewelry. American Eagle produces both men's and women's clothing in a comprehensive size range. The store originally had a brand image for selling classic preppy fashion like polo shirts, but over the years, they have shifted toward a more bohemian aesthetic. In the past few years, they have gained a lot of popularity for their commitment to body positivity, inclusivity and unretouched marketing photos. There are 933 American Eagle stores and 109 stand-alone Aerie stores currently in operation.
